SF: A Chanse Encounter

San FranciscoSan Francisco Cardmember Pick

Samantha Chanse, artistic director for Kearny Street Workshop, is a busy woman. In addition to driving the artistic vision for this illustrious and historical arts organization, Samantha is an actress, musician, standup comedian and personality about town. In between gigs and rehearsals, we were able to get these snapshots of her life.

My Favorite Dives in San Francisco
• Dimples in Japantown
• G3 — formerly known as Lamia — in the Richmond District
• Whiskey Thieves in the Tenderloin.

My Comedy Venues of Choice
Punchline Comedy
50 Mason (with a faux-brick wall — it's somehow endearing)
The Makeout Room — which isn't a comedy venue, but works well as one... a guy named Nato Green runs a series called Iron Comic there

My Recommended "Must See" in November
I've got a few comedy shows but I'm really excited about performing in, Walls by Jeannie Borroga. This play is amazing and depicts the stories of soldiers of the Vietnam Era and their families right before the unveiling of May Lin's controversial Vietnam War Memorial. It's produced by the AATC and is running through most of November.
