Eric Richter knows a little something about music. Founder of Christie Front Drive (credited in some circles as the band that started emo) and the shoegazey Antarctica, he currently plays with New York's indie-pop three-piece The 101. We caught up with him for a quick Q&A between tours:
Best place to see a show in NYC:
For smaller shows, The Mercury Lounge — it probably has the best sound in the city. For larger shows, it's a toss-up between the Hammerstein Ballroom and The Beacon Theatre. They're both truly glorious spaces.
Next show you're looking forward to (other than your own):
Pere Ubu at The Knitting Factory on Nov. 22. These guys have made some of the most original and interesting records over the past 30 years, and have been a huge influence on me.
Lucky New Yorkers can catch The 101 on Nov. 10 at Lit Lounge, 93 2nd Ave., and Nov. 29 at The Annex, 152 Orchard St.

I've seen The 101 a few times and they're awesome. Eric's a great songwriter, and they're new record Green Street rocks.
