Steppenwolf Theatre is eschewing the typical Christmas Carol holiday play in favor of a more contemporary vision with Sonia Flew, in which the title character, a Cuban immigrant raising two children with her Jewish husband in Minneapolis, prepares Christmas and Hanukah celebrations while reconciling her son's current worries of war with childhood memories of her own. Both funny and sentimental, it's sure to put you in a reflective holiday spirit.
This week and next, come to the theatre a little early and sample authentic Cuban appetizers courtesy of Coobah's Jimmy Madla, or attend this Friday's pre-show party.
