Chicago is lucky enough to be one of the permanent homes for one of the most popular musicals in recent memory: Wicked, "the untold story of the witches of Oz," based on the best-selling book by the same name. Awards have been heaped on this play, and for good reason — it's a wonderful tale smartly told, delivering the backstory from before Dorothy landed on the Wicked Witch of the West. You'll laugh, you might cry, but you'll definitely be blown away by the inventive show. It's an open run, but tickets sell out well in advance, so plan ahead and get yours soon.
