There are some locations in the West Village, with their cobble-stoned streets and old carriage houses, that are so quaint it hurts. Café Cluny, on the corner of West 12th and West 4th, is one of those places. This tiny neighborhood sister bistro of downtown's Odeon is perfect down to every last detail; the whimsical décor, the fresh flowers, the candles, and of course, the menu. While there doesn't seem to be a clunker in the lot, dishes like the baby beet salad with black mission figs and aged goat cheese and the tender braised short ribs complemented with foie gras, potato puree and root vegetables really stand out — as does their delectable, creamy chocolate pudding, so save room for dessert. Reservations recommended.
