Crowded? Yes. Noisy? Yes. All hype? Not a chance. Though you may have heard The Spotted Pig is all style, and no substance, forget about those nagging naysayers and pull up a stool at the gastro-pub that (arguably) started it all. Owner and A&R exec Ken Friedman has created a space that sends you back to London, where pubs are a destination for food, drink and total and complete merriment — but with a New York twist that involves catering to models, music moguls and famous members of the glitterati. If the evening crowds are too much to handle, stop by for an early dinner and soak it all in. Just note: while the menu has an Italian-American slant, order the char grilled burger, which comes topped with Roquefort cheese and shoestring fries, the latter of which are earning a rep as some of the best in this city. You won't be sorry.
