In the NYC Japanese food scene, that's Yama, a solid go-to for fresh sushi that's well prepared and wallet friendly. Don't be fooled by places with a fresh hot-spot status — the freshness of Yama's generously cut sushi's is what matters. There are a few locations throughout the city, but the 49th Street location is noticeably chicer, and larger, than the others. Locations on Carmine, Houston and 17th Streets make it convenient for a pop in anytime.
