If you are like me, then you believe pie falls into its own food group, and when done superbly it induces blissful euphoria with each tasty forkful. And if you love pie like this or want to love pie like this, consider Mission Pie your next destination. The variety of pies available is dizzying. Serving up apple, walnut, pumpkin, sweet potato, spinach, banana cream and other dreamy and savory confections. The pie may be sinful but the organization PieRanch certainly isn't with its education program which teaches students from urban areas about the agricultural roots and process that brings their tasty pies to the table.

And you thought you were cool before, didn't you? But have you been to Double Punch to appreciate and bask in the awesomeness of incredible, out of stock, hard to find, retired, fanatically cool imported toy figurines? Frozen yogurt, as a trend, is coming back with a vengeance and the Yogurt Bar is the place to be in the city. The froyo has a decidedly tangy, authentically yogurt-ish note and the variety of fresh fruit toppings is generous and tasty. Of course, if you're not that into healthy toppings, you can always pick out a choco-cereal confection. Froyo comes in original plain, fruit or green tea flavors.

There's plenty to go around at these hot new restaurants, provided you can score a table:
• Burma Superstar's hip sister restaurant/bar, B Star Bar (127 Clement St., 415- 933-9900), offers a slew of fun/tasty Asian inspired dishes. A departure from traditional Burmese cuisine and ambiance.
• Head to Sudachi for live music, spectacular sushi, potent soju cocktail potions to kick off your night.
• Rouge et Blanc Wine Bar, the latest venture from the impressive Aqua restaurant group, is still working out some kinks but will be sure to impress soon enough.
Adventurous but not excessive in extravagance, we've recently discovered Brick in the Tender-Nob area, which has a curiously provocative menu that splices flavors from around the globe with modern culinary techniques. How else would you describe creations like the vanilla lemon oil infused, pan roasted dorade and the seared kobe with passion fruit and white asparagus? Go with friends in the same spirit of taste adventuring and share multiple small plates together to decide for yourself what favorites you'll have. We'll try not to sway you too much with our favorites like the lamb duo or the hamachi sashimi with ginger dust seasoning.

Marco Polo brought pastas back from China in the Thirteenth Century. More recently, Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream in San Francisco's foggy Sunset District introduced feisty and flavorful fusion treats with Asian flair in silky gelatos. And in the Twenty-second Century, students from Star Trek Academy will be skipping out of their Iconian mythology courses to head towards Marco Polo for sweet and sumptuous fusion gelato treats. This we feel, is clearly the future. After all, how could delightful flavors like durian, taro, lychee and sesame in a silky smooth and refreshing gelato ever go out of style? Go with friends, get double scoops and have a tasting party. The flavors are totally out of this world. (Cash only. No, they do not accept academy credits yet.)

Wow. Simply Wow. The Italian cuisine at newly opened Farina could have you singing its praises in opera in moments. Homemade pasta, authentic Genoese recipes that woo your tastbuds, gorgeous and elegant ambiance — everything you would need for an extraordinary special night out. Newly opened to the public and — at last report — still working through the liquor license issues so it may be BYOB for a bit. That's really the only thing that could have you waving your hands about in full Italian-style furor. Otherwise, much airkissing to the staff and other patrons there.
